Kolona Beach
Kolona beach or the beaches in Kolona are among the most beautiful in the Aegean and in fact both sides of the beach are protected from the wind in contrast to similar landscapes on other islands. The whole area of Kolona is magical. To reach Kolona beach you have to cross a difficult dirt road that starts right on the right side of Apokrousi beach or come by boat or sea taxi from Merichas.
Kouri Zogaki beach
Kouri and Zogaki beaches. Two beaches next to each other in an excellent landscape of Kythnos with capes and islands reminiscent of fjords. After Kouri beach are Naoussa and Agios Stefanos, while before Zogaki, the beach in Lefkes. The twin beaches of Kouri and Zogaki are sandy and have some trees for shade. They communicate with each other with a small alley and a few steps.
Gialos Mericha Beach
It is not uncommon for the Cyclades to have beautiful beaches right next to the ports of the islands. In many islands as in Kythnos we meet the same phenomenon. Usually these beaches close to the port city are also called Gialos. So Merichas, the port of Kythnos has its Gialos. A small beautiful beach with sand and fine pebbles right next to the busy settlement.
Aliki beach
Aliki Beach is a wonderful beach in a wild landscape in southern Kythnos. There are no trees or anything else on the beach. You are the only one, the blue-green of the Aegean, the blue of the sky and the bare landscape with the dry stones. Take the essentials with you and go down the difficult dirt road that you will find on your right, just before Agios Dimitrios.
Agios Dimitrios beach
Agios Dimitrios beach is located in the homonymous settlement which is the southernmost of Kythnos and the most distant from Chora and the port of Merichas. As most of the beaches of Kythnos are more or less the same, you will find the same pattern on the beach in Agios Dimitrios. Large tamarisk trees, a huge sandy beach and a few shops for the essentials compose the scenery at the Beach in Agios Dimitrios. The rock formations in the port of the settlement are also interesting, while the Aliki beach that you will meet before the entrance of the settlement of Agios Dimitrios is also very beautiful.
Lefkes beach
Lefkes beach is located very close to Dryopida and is a wonderful beach with sand and pebbles. In the settlement there are strong signs of the mining past of Kythnos. On the beach in Lefkes there are some tamarisk trees as in most of the beaches of Kythnos, which will offer you the necessary shade. Near Lefkes are the beaches of Sifni and the beaches of Zogaki and Kouri, which you can explore on foot if you have a walking mood
Episkopi beach
Episkopi is a beautiful cove with many tamarisk trees that you will find on the road Merichas-Chora in a short distance as soon as you leave Merichas. Episkopi beach is one of the busiest in Kythnos and the favorite beach of young people. The beach in Episkopi is sandy and if you sit up late you will see one of the most beautiful sunsets in Kythnos.
Martinakia beach
Martinakia is a small beach with some tamarisk trees right next to Merichas, 5 minutes walk. From Martinakia one can see the edge of Merichas and in the port of Kythnos, the ships come, moor and leave. Today Martinakia has become a normal settlement. Nevertheless, they remain adorable, two steps from the port of Kythnos, ideal for those who do not like the many trips.
Fikiada beach
Fikiada beach is another of the wonderful beaches of Kythnos. You will find it next to the dirt road that leads from Apokrousi to Kolona beach. Fykiada is one of the many pleasant surprises that Kythnos has in store for you at every step. You go carefree to find the much photographed Kolona and just a few meters before you see this beauty. Fikiada Beach is a large golden beach in a wonderful Aegean landscape, fortunately still virgin. At the left edge of the beach there is a bar for essentials.
Apokrousi beach
The beach repulsion until 2012 did not have sunbeds and umbrellas the only thing you will find there are a couple of shops for essentials. On the right side of the beach begins a very bad dirt road that leads to another enchanting landscape of Kythnos, the beaches in Kolona. Although Kolona beach is the most photographed part of Kythnos, since it is indeed an impressive landscape, it is certain that Apokrousi is one of the best beaches not only in Kythnos, but in the entire Aegean.
Antonides Beach
The beach of two Antonides in the area of Panagia of Kanala is not so well known. But it is a beautiful beach of Kythnos that is worth your visit. At least it’s worth it for those who like exploring. Panagia Kanala is built in a pine forest on a cape. On one side of the cape there is the long sand beach of Kanala, while on the back more invisible side of the cape, there is the beach Antonides which is a small protected bay with some tamarisk trees.
Schinari beach
Schinari is a small settlement very close to the Baths of Kythnos. This settlement also has the small beach of the same name. The beach in Schinari is sandy and family run. Almost in the sea there are tamarisk trees, while around the small bay there are other trees. Thus Schinari looks like a green oasis in relation to the rest of the dry landscape of the island.
Agia Irini Beach
In the beautiful bay of Agia Irini of Kythnos, where the church of Agia Irini is located, there is also the puppet settlement of the same name, but also a large sandy beach, one of the most windless in Kythnos. You will go to Agia Irini following the road on the right side of Loutra. The view of the bay is wonderful. On the beach of Agia Irini you will find everything you need while on the beach there are many large tamarisk trees.
Megali Ammos Kanalos beach
Exactly what its name says the big beach Ammos of Kanala is a big sandy beach in the settlement where the famous Panagia Kanala is located. It is a beautiful beach, while you can swim on the rocks below the pine-covered hill where Panagia Kanala is located. Megali Ammos of Panagia Kanala is a beach that you must go to during your visit to Kythnos and combine with a tour of the surrounding area. On the left side of the settlement there is another beach that is worth your visit, Antonides beach.
Loutra Beach
Loutra in Kythnos, apart from being the most popular seaside settlement, in addition to having hot springs, also has a very nice beach. The Baths also have anchorage for yachts, among others. If you add to this the fact that one of its hot springs runs freely and completely free on the right side of the beach in Loutra, then you do not want to ask that the beach in Loutra is one of the beaches of Kythnos that you must swim. At the beach in Loutra of course you can drink your coffee or soft drink, as well as eat in one of the amazing shops on the beach sand on the left side near the marina.
